Job description

Job Summary; 9:30am - 4pm, x2 days per week. Hours are flexible and can be discussed. Additional hours are available to cover staff holidays and occasional Saturdays if interested. Are you a social and caring person who enjoys keeping active and would like to learn new skills? The role - supporting a young male in his twenties, He requires the use of a wheelchair-walker (rollator). Alongside support to enable him to carry out everyday tasks whilst supporting and increasing his independence whilst encouraging his ongoing rehabilitation. .

Responsibilities

  • Supporting specialist physical therapy sessions & completing home exercise programs, Full training provided.
  • Assistance to attend social and support groups.
  • General supervision to ensure safety and reduce risk of falls.
  • Assistance with computers, typing, and other forms of technology.
  • Personal care, no hands-on care required.
  • Preparation of meals, lunch, snacks & shakes and light House work.
  • Companionship, effective communication, social skills, good listening skills, and respect for confidentiality.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Experience within a relevant sector, transferable skills such as caring, support work, physical education, personal assistant, disability, PT, brain injury other relevant/transferable skills.
  • A willingness to learn and complete training
  • Good communication skills and respect for confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with client- and family.
  • A full driving licence is essential as you will be required to drive an accessible van.
  • AccessNI check required - completed by the employer.

Desirable Skills

  • Interest in keeping active & physical activity, knowledge of gym equipment, yoga, pilates, or other activities or an interest to learn.
  • Confident in the water, attending/supporting hydro water based sessions such as swimming, aqua aerobics etc.
