Responsibilities

  • Keeping the computerised phone book up to date, operation of voice mail, setting up new extension numbers and the forwarding of calls/messages as required.
  • Support the team with enquiries from persons calling at Reception. Issuing, receiving, and recording documents.
  • Learn how to issue receipts for cash, cheques and card payments received to the council through the computerised financial system, preparing and reconciling lodgements daily.
  • Learn how to issue receipts for petty cash given to members of staff. Reconcile and code receipts.
  • Learn how to carry out dog licensing duties i.e., issue licences, reconcile fees and sort and pack dog-tags.
  • Learn how to record requests for collection of household items, wheelie bins and scrap cars, process payments and forward to appropriate departments.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Good communication skills.
  • 5 G.C.S.Es (grade C or above), or equivalent.
  • Good customer care skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and willingness to learn.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous Customer Service Experience 6 months or more.
  • Experience in Cash Handling.
  • A qualification that demonstrates competent word processing/database skills and ability to broaden computing experience with other packages e.g. RSA/ OCR Stage II Word processing/ECDL/CLAIT/ICT or similar qualification.

The employer is: ARDS AND NORTH DOWN BOROUGH COUNCIL. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
