Heritage Officer
Job description
The post holder will have a sound understanding of the importance of heritage and heritage management and conservation. S/he will be a passionate advocate for environmental conservation. As well as the practical side to looking after biodiversity, the heritage officer will act as an ambassador for the work of Creggan Country Park. The environment is everyone’s responsibility, & the heritage officer must be able to share their passion and to explain to people why it is so important to look after all aspects of the site’s heritage. The Heritage Officer needs to be able to turn their hand to a wide variety of multi-disciplinary tasks. S/he will be a people person, working well with the public, volunteers and user groups to help conserve the various heritage aspects of the site, and facilitate access and develop audiences.
Responsibilities
- Agreeing programmes of work, promoting and conserving heritage and developing audiences with due regard to statutory permissions and best practice.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Being able to manager volunteers Background knowledge about wildlife and habitat management.
Desirable Skills
- Technical practical skills such as building fencing and installing a bench.
- Be able to use requisite tools and machinery.
Further Information
