GP Receptionist/ Clerical Officer
Job description
We are looking for a motivated, reliable and flexible individual to undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of a busy GP practice, including the provision clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team. You will be the first point of contact for patients, healthcare staff and other external professionals and must assist in dealing with all types of questions and queries..
Responsibilities
- Making appointments
- Dealing with prescription requests
- Answering the telephone
- Assisting patients with queries
- Processing requests for appointments, home visits and telephone consultations
- Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail and medical forms
- Computer data entry and recording information into patient records
- Opening and locking up of the practice premises and maintaining security
- Any other routine administrative duties relevant to the position or requested from management as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Minimum GCSE A- C in English and Mathematics or equivalent
- Previous experience working as a receptionist
- Strong communication skills and excellent people skills
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi task
- Computer literacy with good keyboard skills
- Ability to work in a busy environment
Desirable Skills
- Experience of the clinical system Vision and Docman would be beneficial but not essential as full training will be given.
