Grounds Maintenance Operative

Do you have a keen eye for detail and thrive in an Outdoor Environment? In this role you will use a range of machinery and hand held equipment to maintain public spaces to a high standard. As an approved training provider you will have the opportunity to grow your knowledge and experience across other services the business provides. We are looking for people who can motivate a team with a positive attitude and can work on their own initiate. Our work takes us to some beautiful locations across Ulster working on a variety of terrains all year round. Duties Include: Driving, operating and maintaining a range of commercial mechanical/electrical equipment and machinery. e.g chainsaws, grass-cutters, hedge trimmers, strimmers, push mowers, ride-on mowers etc. Using a range of handheld equipment and tools associated with the provision of a grounds maintenance service. This will include secateurs, hedge trimmers, rollers, spades, forks, and spraying equipment among others The establishing and maintenance of shrub beds and grassed areas. To clean and lift litter and larger debris from client premises. The spraying of shrub beds, tree bases and hard areas with a range of chemicals, pesticides and weed killers. The loading/unloading of all equipment, materials and waste as required. The execution of running repairs and minor maintenance on equipment and machinery including, for example, the sharpening, adjusting and renewal of blades as required, etc. The post holder must carry out all duties associated with the post with due regard to the health and safety of colleagues and members of the public. This includes quarantining faulty equipment. Driving to and from site to transport equipment and colleagues. Mechanically removing moss and debris from foot paths and hard surfaces. Any other duties as required. .
Responsibilities
- Ensure correct equipment is taken to and returned from site
- Record work progress on tablet or smart phone
- Ensure Health and Safety requirements are adhered to
- Ensure relevant PPE is worn at all times
- Uphold company image and ensure a positive public perception
- Operating ATV to carry out weed control on public highways
- Ensure equipment is maintained and serviced
- Ensure works are carried out to customers satisfaction
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- One years experience in a similar role
- Full UK, clean driving licence
- Ability and experience operating commercial grade equipment
- Basic IT/ smart device literacy
- Ability to tow a trailer and loading, unloading and securing of equipment on trailer
- Punctual and presentable
Desirable Skills
- HGV licence
- PA1, PA6, PA2 pesticide application courses
- CS30/31 or other tree surgery related courses
- Tractor driving/ Agricultural experience
