Tackling Deprivation Coordinator
Job description
To support the strategic direction, development and review of all Tackling Deprivation activity within the Community Planning Department, to include Neighbourhood Renewal and Areas at Risk Programmes. To work with other sections of the Council to co-ordinate a range of activities to address deprivation across the Borough. To support the Community Planning Manager with the development and implementation of the Community Plan. To support the Community Planning Manager with overall section business planning and implementation. .
Responsibilities
- Manage the day to day operation of all Tackling Deprivation activity in the Section to include Neighbourhood Renewal and Areas at Risk This will involve the management of staff and physical resources
- Monitor staff performance to include regular performance appraisals in accordance with Council policy
- To implement identified staff training to maintain and develop efficient community facilities and services
- Ensure a high level of staff performance in order to meet the targets within the Section Business Plan and the Councils Corporate Plan
- Ensure a customer focussed approach amongst all staff within the post holders area of responsibility
- To coordinate the development implementation and review of the Neighbourhood Renewal and Areas at Risk Action Plans ensuring compliance with the needs of local communities and requirements of the Council and external funders
- To develop and manage strategic relationships with key stakeholders
- To manage and support project delivery and to ensure that appropriate systems and procedures are in place to manage funding awarded
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- A degree in a relevant discipline eg Youth Community Development Health and Social Care Marketing Business Studies Social Sciences or Humanities or demonstrate a minimum of 3 years relevant experience as detailed below
- A minimum of two years relevant work experience within the community or voluntary sector to include
- Assisting groups to develop and implement projects or action plans and Assisting groups to identify and apply for funding
- A minimum of one years experience in providing administrative support to include minute taking and report writing
- Full current driving licence or if a disability prevents driving, access to a suitable form of transport to enable the duties of the post to be carried out in full
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office and Windows Applications
- Ability to be flexible and to work some evenings and occasional weekends
Desirable Skills
- Experience of funding programmes
- Experience of identifying training or development needs within local community groups
- Experience of vouching financial claims and managing payments
