Laundry Assistant


Job description

To provide a laundry service to all residents within the Home, ensuring high standards are maintained at all times..

Responsibilities

  • Sort all garments, fabric and linen into types for separate washing cycles, including clothes for specialist cleaning e.g. dry cleaning only.
  • To use washing equipment according to manufactures instructions
  • Ensure that all laundry is thoroughly dried, folded neatly and placed in the correct trolley for returning on a daily basis.
  • Ensure all residents clothing is marked correctly and stored in individual laundry baskets to be collected by the Care Assistants on a daily basis.
  • Care of clothing as to the manufactures instructions, e.g. ironing and pressing laundry.
  • To follow uniform policy, including use of protective clothing when required, for e.g. goggles, aprons and gloves.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures to include the COSHH regulations.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Good interpersonal and presentational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team or on your own when necessary.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work in a tidy clean manner.
  • Ability to be confidential at all times.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety, Infection Control and COSHH.
