Teacher of Physics (Post-Primary)


Job description

Planning and preparing courses and lessons; Teaching, according to their educational needs, the pupils assigned to him/her, including the setting and marking of work to be carried out by the pupils in school and elsewhere; Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils. .

Responsibilities

  • Teaching, according to their educational needs, the pupils assigned to him/her, including the setting and marking of work to be carried out by the pupils in school and elsewhere
  • Providing advice and guidance to pupils on educational and social matters and on their further education and future careers including information about sources of more expert advice on specific questions, making relevant records and reports
  • Providing or contributing to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual pupils and groups of pupils except in instances where to do so might be regarded as compromising a teachers own position.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Hold a teaching qualification which meets the requirements for recognition to teach in grant-aided schools in Northern Ireland at the closing date for completed applications.
  • Hold a degree or teaching qualification which has prepared the applicant to teach Food and Nutrition as his/her main subject.
  • Have a minimum of one years experience of teaching Physics to A Level within the last 6 years.
  • Demonstrable experience of using a range of effective approaches to achieve high outcomes for young people of all abilities.

Desirable Skills

  • Hold an honours degree (minimum 2:2) or equivalent or higher in Physics or a related subject (can include joint/combined honours).
  • Demonstrable experience of promoting and developing positive relationships with children and young people through extra-curricular or enrichment activities.
  • Level 1 coaching qualification or demonstrable experience of coaching or organising sporting activities for young people.
