QC Microbiology Manager - Analytical Services


Job description

Applications are invited for the position of Quality Control Manager (Analytical) based within our QC Microbiology Department. The successful candidate will work as part of our existing team reporting to the Performance and Delivery Lead for Microbiology, they will be responsible for development, implementation and maintenance of all quality control systems and for routine batch release activities..

Responsibilities

  • Managing the functions of the QC Microbiology analytical department.
  • Ensuring that samples designated for testing are tested in accordance with defined procedures to required deadlines.
  • Ensuring that raw materials, finished product and stability samples are tested in accordance with GMP guidelines.
  • Ensuring the workload is dealt with effectively, efficiently and in accordance with current GMP guidelines / pharmacopeial requirements.
  • Assisting in the compilation of Standard Operating Procedures, Methods of Analysis & Raw Material Specifications and approval of quality documentation in accordance with GMP and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversight of the introduction of new raw materials and finished products into the laboratory for release testing.
  • Utilization and management of laboratory resources in an effective and efficient manner to promote development and progression.
  • Participation in a leading capacity in audits by customers and regulatory authorities.
  • Provide analytical and technical support in the investigation of customer complaints, out of specification investigations and deviations.
  • Monitoring and reporting of key performance indicators.
  • Promote and drive continuous improvement within the microbiology team.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Hold a third level qualification in microbiology or a related discipline.
  • Have at least five years experience in a pharmaceutical analytical environment two of which having been in a supervisory capacity.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with team members, other departments and senior management.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in recording and presenting key performance indicators.
  • Ability to engage, support and develop individuals.
