Job description
Working with colleagues, the post holder will manage the Credit Union’s Compliance and Risk Management Framework. The Compliance and Risk Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all legislative, regulatory, policy and procedural requirements. The officer will work to identify and manage risks, along with strategies and plans to avoid future risks. .
Responsibilities
- Planning, designing, implementing and managing the risk management framework, risk registers, risk appetite statements and related policies and procedures for the credit union;
- Assisting the board of directors in the development and implementation of the credit union policy and strategy for risk management;
- Carrying out regular risk assessments across the credit union, which involves identifying risks, analysing the impacts and developing appropriate mitigation
- To devise and implement a compliance system to ensure that all elements of all relevant products and services offered are being carried out in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, policies and procedures
- To ensure the requirements of the compliance system are implemented and adhered to on an on-going basis, and to ensure relevant issues are effectively reported.
- Advising the Board of Directors, Management Team and staff on current compliance laws, rules and standards and provide appropriate management information on a regular basis or as required.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- 3rd level degree relevant to the role OR a minimum of 3 years professional experience in a Compliance and/or Risk role within the financial services sector
- A knowledge of the rules, laws and regulations governing credit unions
- Knowledge of risks facing credit unions
- Excellent interpersonal, communications, presentation and teamwork skills
- Be a methodical, detailed focused individual
- Knowledge and experience of ICT packages including Microsoft Office
Desirable Skills
- An understanding of credit union operations
