Job description

Deputy Head of Pharmacy and member of the Pharmacy Senior Management Team contributing to the strategic development of pharmacy and medicines management services. Directly accountable and responsible for the strategic planning, co-ordination, development and performance of pharmacy patient services across the Trust ensuring compliance with organisational, national, regulatory and professional guidance. Directly accountable and responsible for the strategic planning, co-ordination, development and performance of pharmacy vaccine services including purchasing, storage, stock management, distribution, disposal and associated record keeping in accordance with organisational, national, regulatory and professional guidance. Responsible for the strategic planning, co-ordination, development and performance of the pharmacy community services enabling effective distribution of pharmaceuticals and medical devices to community facilities and teams. Responsible for the strategic planning, co-ordination, development and performance of clinical pharmacy services within NHSCT Community Hospitals. Lead service development and quality improvement projects across pharmacy services .

Responsibilities

  • To lead the modernisation and reform of patient and community services to optimise efficiencies in the handling, storage and distribution of medicines and medical devices
  • Responsible for the registration of Northern Trust pharmacy premises with the Pharmaceutical Society of NI and the implementation of the Medicines (Pharmacies) (Responsible Pharmacist) Regulations 2008

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • MPharm or equivalent degree Member of the Pharmaceutical Society Northern Ireland or eligible to register
  • Post-graduate qualification in an area relevant to the practice of Pharmacy to at least Masters level Minimum of 3 years hospital experience at Band 8a or above

Work time: Monday to Sunday with unsocial hours as required.
