Caterer/Cook
Job description
Applicants will be expected to vary hours of duty on occasions to meet requirements of the Children’s Home, ie sickness, holidays, weekends. Staff within catering will also be required to work to in accordance to the Trust HACCP management systems and working instructions. The Childrens Home provides care for a range of children / young people between the ages of 11-18 years. .
Responsibilities
- To oversee and supervise the work of the Assistant Cook and ensure their practice is of an acceptable standard.
- The position will entail constant pursuit of quality standards, with flair and commitment to the provision of preparation, delivery and service of food to young people, staff and visitors.
- The Supervisor / Cook will work closely with other staff members in providing a caring environment and will be responsible for the preparation and cooking of meals and responsible for cleaning duties for the home.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- 1 years relevant experience as a cook working within a commercial catering/Health Care facility AND NVQ level 1 & 2 in Catering Qualification or and Guilds 706/1 plus 706/2 or equivalent.
- OR 3 years relevant experience as a cook working within a commercial catering/Health Care facility.
- CIEH Level 2 Food Safety AND Basic Food Hygiene Qualification.
Desirable Skills
- D32/33 Assessor Award Experience within a training environment.
- NVQ Level 3 in Catering.
- Intermediate Advanced Food Hygiene.
- Experience of Supervising Staff.
