Job description

The Assistant Warden will be part of the Inspectorate Section undertaking duties associated with the enforcement of the navigation byelaws. The post holder will be normally work on the Erne System but may be required to perform duties in other regions as and when required. .

Responsibilities

• Assist in the administration and enforcement of the navigation Byelaws.
• Respond to enquiries from waterway users and the public
• Liaise with other staff in management of the navigation, (e.g., problems with markers, jetties, etc.)
• Undertaking harbour and boat patrols to monitor and enforce the Byelaws including the checking of registration of vessels, mooring period limits and moorings.
• Assist with organised events on the navigation either representing Waterways Ireland or ensuring that the navigation is kept

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Five GCSE grades A star-C (including English and Mathematics), or equivalent.
• A valid recognised qualification in boat handling (e.g., RYA Level 2 Powerboat course or equivalent).
• A valid current full driving licence
