Job description

Preparations of classroom area, resources, materials, equipment and/or tools before classes arrive to carry out practical activities. Supervising correct usage of resources, materials and/or tools by lecturers and students. Assisting lecturers during practical sessions and ensuring that students use safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Preparations of classroom area, resources, materials, equipment and/or tools before classes arrive to carry out practical activities
• Supervising correct usage of resources, materials and/or tools by Lecturers and Students.
• Assisting Lecturers during practical sessions and ensuring that students use safe working practices.
• Maintaining adequate stock levels and records within the curriculum area.
• Responsible for sourcing and purchasing new equipment and stock Stock takes

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• A Level 3 qualification in a Science Discipline, for example Chemistry or Biology as a significant component of this qualification
• Maths & English GCSE grade C or above
• 1 year or more experience in a work/academic lab-based setting Or Laboratory experience acquired while completing practicals as part of an university degree / Foundation Degree/HND will be considered
• Strong organisational and communication skills Good IT skills
