Job description
Provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the Nursery. Support the Managers and nursery staff in the running of the Nursery. To provide support to other colleagues and personnel within the Nursery setting and to implement the daily routine..
Responsibilities
- To provide support to other colleagues and personnel within the Nursery setting and to implement the daily routine.
- Encourage the development of a warm relationship between staff and children.
- Assist in the promotion of the Nursery to ensure full usage.
- In consultation with the Room Supervisor and Managers, prepare a forward plan of activities and prepare all the daily programme of activities.
- Ensure that attention is paid to the childrens physical and emotional needs and promote the development of social skills in the children through their relationship with other children and adults.
- Adapt to different groups, different children and different routines, with a positive and flexible attitude.
- Work as part of a team and use own initiative in responding to particular situations.
- Report any accidents or illnesses immediately.
- Encourage parents to feel welcome and to participate in the settling in of the children and ensure that all parents are kept informed of their child's progress.
- Implement Health and Safety Regulations and ensure the nursery is clean and tidy.
- Ensure Child Protection guidelines are implemented and report all suspected abuse or incidences to the Designated Officer (Manager).
- To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, staff meetings, etc.
- Meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development.
- Carry out other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the Managers.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Applicants should hold or be studying for a Level 3 certificate in Childcare.
- Experience of working in childcare.
Desirable Skills
- As we carry out school runs, a clean driving licence is desirable.
Further Information
Work time: Various from Monday - Friday between 7.30am-6.30pm. Successful applicant will be required to complete Access NI, vetting checks and relevant administration prior to taking up the post.
