Team Leader


Job description

The Team Leader will help to ensure that a high level of care is maintained within the Home, in accordance with agreed policies, procedures and best practice. They will also ensure that the individual needs of the Residents are fully met within a caring environment..

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a high standard of care is maintained in the Home, by supervising staff on a daily basis and ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Manage the Home on a daily basis and act as the designated person in charge when required. This will include the management of Care and Housekeeping staff and when in this role the Team Leader must be in the Home at all times.
  • To uphold the principles of choice, participation, respect and dignity for persons with disabilities.
  • Be responsible for the storage, administration and safe handling of medication.
  • Assess individual residents needs, plan and implement care plans and evaluate intervention strategies by carrying out regular reviews.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A recognised professional qualification e.g., RNLD, RGN, RSCN, RMN, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy (or awaiting registration)
  • Or NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent in qualification) including 3 years' experience of working in a care setting, of which 2 years' should be working with people with a complex learning disability
  • An understanding of the needs of people with a profound learning disability and their families
  • Experience of working in a residential or hospital setting
  • Willingness to commit to working within the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland
  • Availability for flexible hours working, as hours will be worked to cover a 24 hour shift pattern and therefore could include evenings, weekends or waking nights. This may include hours beyond the normal shift pattern

Further Information

Work time: Night duty, to be agreed. Salary: £25,655 per annum pro rata. We are an Equal Opportunities Employer.
