Job description

To be responsible for the effective day-to-day management of BCRC and all of the programmes that we deliver. To be responsible for the line management of staff and volunteers working within the Resource Centre. This will include leading in staff recruitment, inductions, performance management and disciplinary matters as well as regular staff meetings. .

Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for the line management of staff and volunteers working within the Resource Centre. This will include leading in staff recruitment, inductions, performance management and disciplinary matters as well as regular staff meetings.
  • To secure capital and revenue funding for the Resource Centre to ensure sustainability.
  • Identify and create innovative projects for the sustainability of Resource Centre.
  • The continuous review, updating and implementation of the BCRC Strategic Plan.
  • To be responsible for the financial administration of the Centre and communicating information about the finances to the board and line manager on a monthly basis.
  • To ensure that all progress reports meet project targets and are presented to the Board on a regular basis.
  • To ensure that all performance indicators within each project are achieved as agreed by funders.
  • To gain and share knowledge of the developments in funding opportunities and social policy changes in a regional and local context and the implications for the Resource Centre.
  • To maintain effective links with current funders and establish positive relations with potential funding organisations.
  • To develop a PR Strategy for the Resource Centre. To include the ongoing production and development of newsletter and website.
  • To be responsible for Health and Safety in the building. To include maintenance, hire of room equipment and other resources.
  • To develop and maintain a partnership approach with key stakeholders.
  • To undertake any other duties deemed appropriate by the appointed management committee of the Resource Centre.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • 3rd level qualification in a relevant discipline i.e. community development, social policy, youth and community work
  • Or minimum of 5 years paid experience in an area of work related to community development and/or peace building with at least 3 years managing projects.
  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrable experience of managing employees, including recruitment, performance management and team building.
  • Experience of financial management and budget responsibility.
  • Experience of strategy planning and development.
  • Experience of fundraising and applying for both revenue and capital grants.
  • Experience of programme development, training and facilitation in a wide variety of settings.
  • Knowledge and experience of regional policies affecting communities.
  • Practical experience of supporting the development of communities, including areas of research, action planning, fundraising, policy, monitoring and evaluation and capacity building.
  • Experience of working with and establishing and maintaining links and networks with the statutory, community and voluntary sectors.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the community/voluntary sector.
  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of working on own initiative.
  • Good communication skills both oral and written.
  • Experience of public relations activities.
  • Computer literate and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of minority ethnic communities, good relations, disability issues and community development.
  • Experience of delivering European Peace Programmes.
  • Research and auditing experience.
