Children's Services Manager
Job description
Children’s House is part of an integrated service with Barnardo’s NI Fostering Service. The service is commissioned by the Strategic Planning and Performance Group (SPPG) on behalf of the five Health and Social Care Trusts (HSCTs). Children’s House is a short term home (up to 2 years) to 4 children aged 5-12 years. The service provides therapeutic support, in a trauma informed environment, to prepare children who have experienced multiple placement breakdowns for long-term fostering. The core team consists of 2 Team Managers, 7 Residential Social Workers/PW2’s and 7 Residential Support Workers, supported by administration, maintenance and housekeeping staff. Children’s House has access to specialist psychology, occupational therapy and speech therapy support, providing expert advice to the team as they parent and care for children who have experienced complex trauma. Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the team; confidently and competently managing change as necessary
- Line manage Team Managers and Service Administrator
- Oversee the delivery of the model of practice and approaches used in the service
- Partnership working with range of Trust colleagues and external stakeholders e.g. RQIA, NISCC
- Complete safe recruitment/selection and induction of staff as required
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Hold a professional qualification in Social Work recognised by the NISCC, have completed the AYE and be registered with the NISCC on part 1 of the register
- Demonstrable experience of working with children
- Demonstrable experience of working with high levels of complex safeguarding matters
- Demonstrable experience of managing others and providing supervision within a health and social care context
- Demonstrable record of working constructively with partner agencies, commissioners and other stakeholders, in a way that enhances the reputation of the organisation
- Ability to drive and have a valid licence or alternatively be able to demonstrate how they can meet the mobility requirements of the post
