About our group The Facilities engineering team have responsibility for services that support a high tech 24/7 manufacturing environment. The manufacturing cleanrooms & equipment, facilities chilled water, boilers, heating and ventilation systems, compressed air, vacuum, and exhaust systems and offices are powered by a complex electrical network. This network must be operated and maintained to the required health and safety standards. The organization is currently embarking on the development of a net-zero carbon reduction roadmap of which electricity usage is the main utility component. About the role, you will Have an exciting opportunity as an intern to join the Facilities Engineering Team; your supporting role is for the delivery of electrical and electrical energy related programmes, projects, and tasks in these four areas: Safety, Maintenance, Network robustness & Energy Efficiency. .
Responsibilities
- Data logging and analysis of electrical usage, electrical loading & equipment reliability.
- Update and develop Electrical Asset Registers
- Roll out of energy efficiency programmes like LED lighting, Power Factor Correction, Variable Speed Drives
- Review and update of an Electrical Safety Handbook and included safety programmes (Arc Flash, LOTO, Training)
- Enable electrical discrimination studies
- Create a calendar of Electrical Maintenance items including (Battery Testing, PAT, PFC replacement, Lighting replacement)
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Currently studying an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology or Energy Engineering related courses.
- Be available to start your internship on 4th September 2023 through to 23rd August 2024.
Desirable Skills
- Experimentation.
- Problem solving techniques.
- Course Projects.
- Competency in MS Excel.
- Data analytics experience.
- Good communication skills.
