Job description

To work as part of a team by assisting in the day to day operation of the Childcare service. To assist in providing a high quality, safe, caring environment for the children. .

Responsibilities

• Providing safe, creative play opportunities and preparing activities in a caring environment.
• Liaising with parents, and other agencies.
• Carrying out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities framework.
• Working within agreed policies.
• Undertaking relevant training.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Ability to work as part of a team.
• NVQ Level 3 Childcare Learning & Development or equivalent (or in process of obtaining).
• Relevant experience working with 0-5 year olds.
• Knowledge of child protection principles and procedures.
• Knowledge of health and safety principles and procedures.
• Clear understanding of child development.
• An understanding of equal opportunities.
• Ability to relate well to children, parents and carers.
• Good communication skills.
• Willing to undertake relevant training.

Desirable Skills

• 1 year's experience of working with 0-5 year olds.
• Current First Aid Certificate.
• Up to date Child Protection training.
