Test Analyst


Job description

This is a great opportunity to join our growing Technology and Innovation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing new and existing IT functionality for all of Energia Group’s key business applications within the Group technology team The successful candidate will have a keen attention to detail along with a meticulous and diligent approach to work, strong analytical problem-solving skills and a great team-player with the ability to work with minimal supervision. .

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing responsibilities within the Technology and Innovation team, including analysis of user stories and functional specifications, write and execute test cases and identify and log issues/defects.
  • Actively collaborate with developers and business stakeholders to clarify requirements (especially in terms of testability, consistency, and completeness).
  • Measure and report the test coverage across all applicable coverage areas, ensuring root and branch coverage of testing scenarios in order to give confidence the system is working as expected.
  • Execute test cases (manual or automated where appropriate) and analyse results.
  • Report defects, triage, and work with the Project Manager and wider team to prioritise and resolve; propose solutions to any problems identified.
  • Peer review test scripts.
  • Ensure all development tasks meet quality criteria through test planning, test execution, quality assurance and issue tracking, and high-quality products are released to Production.
  • Ensure appropriate test tasks are scheduled during release- and iteration planning.
  • Where required, participate proactively in estimating sessions and sprint retrospectives, suggesting, and implementing improvements.
  • Provide business guidance, expertise and support in an advisory capacity often working and collaborating with leaders in cross capability/functional groups.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a Test Analyst within an IT environment.
  • Knowledge of Waterfall & Agile frameworks.
  • Familiarity with regression testing.
  • Be familiar with the stages of a project and test inputs/outputs during those stages.
  • Experience of producing a test traceability matrix.
  • Experience in defining and maintaining quality test scenarios and scripts.
  • Experience of identifying and escalating any project risks and issues.
  • Experience of providing regular and accurate updates on testing progress via a project tracker.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Packages including Word and Excel.
  • Experience of testing or using applications in utility sector.

Desirable Skills

  • ISTQB certification.
  • Experience of automated testing tools.
  • Experience in writing and running SQL.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of software applications, hardware and networks.
  • Knowledge of testing within Salesforce software.
