Agriculture Inspector Grade III - Graduate Specialists - Horticulture


Job description

The primary role of the Inspector Grade III - Horticulture Graduate Specialist is to interpret, analyse and deliver technical information to students, farmers and growers and industry personnel in a form that meets their needs..

Responsibilities

  • The development and delivery of education and industry training programmes provided by CAFRE, to ensure the sustainability of the horticulture industry through the implementation of DAERA policy.
  • The provision of inspection duties and technical support on a range of issues including plant health regulations, and horticulture policy formulation.
  • Other duties as required in line with the needs of DAERA, including: Driving a departmental vehicle (for teaching posts based in CAFRE campuses the successful candidate(s) may be required to drive a Department minibus).

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • EC1 At least an Honours degree (2.2 classification), or an equivalent qualification, in Horticulture or Sportsturf Management or a closely related subject
  • EC1 continued.. A closely related subject is defined as a degree where at least 50 percent of the modules studied are similar in content to those in a Horticulture degree programme & has the words Horticulture, Landscape, Sportsturf, Sportsturf
  • EC1 continued... Management and Landscape, Applied Plant Science / Production Technology, or Arboriculture / Tree Management in the title.
  • AND EC2. A minimum of one year, relevant post-qualification experience working in the horticulture industry or related industries. The panel will accept a relevant Master's degree or higher as equivalent to one year post-qualification experience.
  • AND EC3. A full and current driving licence enabling the licence holder to drive a car in Northern Ireland.

Desirable Skills

  • SC1 In addition, applicants should be aware that after an eligibility sift, should it be necessary to shortlist candidates to go forward to interview, the Panel will carry out an objective evaluation of the information provided by candidates in
