Job description

The role will primarily be within the Medical Engineering area of the Estates Department, however, the postholder may be expected to work across different areas as required and/or switch primary role between different areas. The Medical Engineering department is responsible for the management, maintenance and repair of medical equipment within the Trust safeguarding both patients and users from potential risk that may occur while using this equipment. The medical equipment maintained by the department includes complex equipment such as infusion pumps, syringe pumps and drivers, patient and vital signs monitors through to lower level devices such as suction machines, nebulisers, tympanic thermometers. The department prides itself on providing a cost effective, quality service with excellent response times to meet the needs of the hospital staff..

Responsibilities

• Carrying out assembly, installation, configuration and acceptance into use of newly delivered medical devices and systems.
• Maintaining a close liaison with the Senior MTO of Medical Engineering in the day-to-day running of the Medical Equipment Library.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Currently studying a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant Biomedical or Electronic Engineering discipline.
