Logistics Controller


Job description

Our client, a world class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks are seeking a Logistics Controller to join their team, based in Craigavon. This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding team within contract logistics. The role involves managing multi-modal transport for inbound and outbound global logistics..

Responsibilities

  • Plan structured collection and delivery schedules
  • Ensure all information contained on the system is accurate at all times
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with relevant external (and internal) stakeholders such as hauliers, customers, sales, production and finance teams
  • Ensure effective communication regarding shipping schedules and associated requirements to customers and liaise with them regarding any delays to planned collection/ arrival dates
  • Maintain Improvement KPIs including ontime delivery, Carrier invoice mismatches and reasons for delays
  • Resolve queries or disputes in an efficient and timely manner
  • Create and maintain cost saving projects throughout the contract
  • Cross Trade shipments from/ to UK, Europe and ROW
  • Data Management to support inbound and outbound transportation
  • Investigating Non Conformances and complaints, i.e. root cause analysis, corrective action and recording on NCR database
  • Obtaining and handling quotes for inbound and outbound transportation
  • Transport Documents - CMR, Bills of Lading & Letter of Credit
  • Freight Bill Auditing & Reporting - dealer costs and exception solving between system and invoices
  • Managing carrier performance in line with contractual score card (KPIs)
  • Cross Training on all function

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • University Degree
  • Minimum of Grade C or above in GCSE or equivalent (English and Maths)
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines & targets
  • Experience in prioritising a personal workload
  • High level of attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills and be a good team player
  • Excellent IT skills, be highly proficient in excel

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in transport planning preferred but not essential
