Job description

The Agency’s Operations and Testing Section is responsible for the frontline delivery of statutory vehicle and driver testing services and ensuring testing standards are monitored and maintained. This includes the development and implementation of new testing processes and procedures, delivering in house technical training to develop a competent and skilled workforce and managing the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System..

Responsibilities

  • Achieve all Agency and Ministerial targets through careful planning, effective and efficient service delivery
  • Specialist vehicle type approval tests ensuring compliance with European Type Approval Standards
  • Liaise with local customer representative groups e.g., Approved Driving Instructors (ADI), taxi associations, motor trade bodies etc and other Government bodies
  • Provide guidance to technical and administrative staff on new or revised policies.
  • Monitor all aspects of service provision, introduce and manage measures to address any weaknesses identified.
  • Respond to all correspondence from internal and external customers in a timely manner

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Applicants must, by the closing date for applications possess one of the following qualifications located on page 14 of the CIB.
  • AND Be a fully qualified mechanic having served at least a 3-year apprentice programme in motor vehicle servicing and repair.
  • AND Have the knowledge and recent experience (i.e, at least 2 years' experience gained within the last 5 years) required to carry out annual roadworthiness examinations on a range of vehicles.
  • AND Have access to a form of transport, which will enable them to carry out the full range of duties of the post.
  • AND Hold a full current driving licence (which includes Category B) to enable the post holder to drive in Northern Ireland.
