Community Farming Support Assistant
Job description
The role will be responsible for assisting the Farm Manager & other staff and volunteers with a wide range of daily community farming activities.
Responsibilities
- Livestock care, including feeding, moving, watering, and cleaning of areas when required. At present we have pigs, goats, and hens.
- Horticultural production, including planting, watering, harvesting to our chemical free and environmentally friendly ethos.
- Site maintenance, including grounds maintenance, repairs, fencing and fixing.
- Care and social farming service delivery that supports two sessions in the week dedicated to adults with additional needs.
- Contributing to the overall organisational effectiveness and to perform any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Farm Manager.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Experience of working, volunteering, or having a regular hobby based outdoors.
- Ability to walk uphill for up to 15 minutes, unaided.
- Willingness to work within Jubilee Farm's Christian ethos that welcomes everyone inclusively in the community, those of a Christian background, non-Christian and of no faith.
- Willingness to welcome volunteers and visitors to Jubilee Farm in an inclusive and non-judgemental ethos.
- A motivated, flexible, and proactive approach to work, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Be willing and committed to be trained on the job and meet expectations during the training process.
- Must be able to read, write and follow instructions.
- Eligible for and registered with the JobStart scheme via local Jobs and Benefit office.
Desirable Skills
- Qualification in horticulture, agriculture, support work or social work.
- Experience in horticulture, agriculture, support work or social work.
- Experience of working with adults with additional needs.
- Experience of working with volunteers.
- Experience or understanding of nature friendly farming, regenerative farming or a chemical free farm practice.
- Resides within a 15-mile radius of BT40 3JY.
- Qualified in food safety, record keeping & hygiene procedures.
Further Information
The Employer is: JUBILEE FARM. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. Salary: 16/17 £5.28, 18/20yrs £7.49, 21/22yrs £10.18, 23/24yrs £10.42 per hour
