Job description

The Employer is: HIDDEN CITY CAFE LTD. Hidden City Cafe are actively looking for a confident and dynamic candidate to work on our cookline as a trainee Plant Based Chef. As a Plant Based Chef, you will be responsible for cooking and handling orders as well prepping recipes from spec sheets, most recipes are plant based and for this element the candidate will receive training. As an ideal candidate, you should have good physical stamina and manual dexterity. You should also have outstanding ability to work in a team environment and good communication skills. .


  • Understanding all the recipes in the food menu.
  • Understanding and adhering to cross contaminations and customers dietary requirements.
  • Prep work of food items.
  • Ensuring the customers get their orders on time.
  • Ensuring all the food stuffs are available in the kitchen.
  • Making food as per the order requirements.
  • Plating, dressing and visualisation of foods.
  • Performing simple food preparation such as making sandwiches, frying etc.
  • Performing general cleaning activities in the kitchen.
  • Using the kitchen tools and equipment to work more efficiently.
  • Checking the stock levels and restocking them as and when needed.
  • Complying with the health and safety rules and regulations.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Ideally this job is suitable to someone who wishes to further themselves and up skill in a future food based direction.
  • It would be beneficial if you had relevant level 1 and 2 food hygiene certification. However we can train you in the various certifications and achieve them through the workplace.

Desirable Skills

  • Gumption and common sense.

Further Information

The Employer is: HIDDEN CITY CAFE LTD. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended, and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. Location: Hidden City Cafe, 2 London Street, Derry City
