Weaving Mill Production Assistant
Job description
The Employer is: MOURNE WEAVERS LTD. Mourne Weavers Mill is looking for an organised and proactive Weaving Mill Production Assistant. This role requires the applicant to work as part of a flexible production team in support of all day-to-day weaving production and warehouse activities. The role requires an interest in industrial manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Produce Mourne Textile products to a consistently high standard.
- Support all yarn management tasks including processing yarn deliveries, updating stock sheets and general stock management.
- Support Warehouse Manager to provide assistance with all production lifecycle tasks including but not limited to cone winding, warp creation and mending fabric/finished product.
- Support Weaver/Tuner with all loom maintenance, loom set up and weaving tasks.
- Assist with tying on new warps/drawing in new drafts.
- Quality check fabric coming off the looms and create inspection reports.
- Bailing fabric and preparing fabric for dispatch, preparing accompanying paperwork for fabric to be sent to the finishers.
- Measuring fabric and cutting blankets returned from finishers.
- Work with the Weave team to maintain all associated production documentation including those on Google Sheets as well as hard copy documents.
- Monitoring/replenishing sample swatches to maintain a good level in stock for orders.
- Stock control, helping with stocktakes, update all stock sheets when needed.
- Communicating with suppliers and ordering consumables for the business when required.
- Prepare swing tags and care labels, make sure folders are up to date.
- Gaining quotes from shipping companies to get best price and communicating with them to rectify any dispatch issues that may arise.
- Monitoring dispatched items.
- General housekeeping, day to day maintenance of workshop/warehouse, ensuring a clean, tidy and safe work area.
- Dispatch responsibilities when required, packing items to a high standard, ensuring good attention to detail.
- Updating online production documents in Google Drive when required.

Essential Skills
- Be a good communicator and team member who can also work autonomously within their own area of responsibility.
- Be well organised and able to manage the workload/timekeeping.
- Be committed to project completion and attention to detail.
- Demonstrate a flexible attitude towards supporting other areas of the business.
- Able to grow within the business, willing to take on new tasks as the business develops.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working with industrial machinery is desirable but not essential.
- Qualifications within the textile/weaving industry may be preferred but not essential.
- Full UK driving licence preferred but not essential.
Further Information
Although this is a full time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
