Facilities Maintenance Assistant
Job description
The employer is LEDCOM. With support from the JobStart Scheme LEDCOM is creating a new position for a Facilities Maintenance Assistant for at least 25 hours per week to assist our business operations. We are seeking a motivated and reliable person to join the LEDCOM team as a Facilities Maintenance Assistant. The successful candidate will support with the general management of our four sites. This position involves a variety of tasks including cleaning, light testing, room setup for conferences, metre readings, minor repairs and handling tenant requests. The ability to travel between business sites is preferred. LEDCOM is a social enterprise with charitable status. As a community led local enterprise centre, we have four business park locations in Larne and Ballyclare. This is an initial position for 6 months from 1st September 2024, with the potential for extension, to cover a range of work duties externally and internally relating to our maintenance of facilities and grounds including caretaking duties.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the general management and caretaking of four business park sites, ensuring they are well-maintained and operational.
- Perform cleaning duties to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards across all facilities.
- Help conduct light testing to ensure safety compliance.
- Assist with the set-up rooms for conferences and other events, including arranging furniture and equipment as needed.
- Assist with taking metre readings and maintain records for utilities usage.
- Help respond promptly and effectively to requests and enquiries from tenants and users of LEDCOM facilities.
- Assist with other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the Business Operations Manager.
- Grounds keeping including landscaping, grass and hedge cutting as required.
- Assist with minor repairs and painting (under supervision) of LEDCOM facilities.
- Cleaning & maintenance duties at four locations in Larne and Ballyclare.
- Ensure that facilities are kept in a secure clean and hygienic condition and complete weekly cleaning schedules including the removal of litter daily.
- General caretaking and waste management responsibilities.
- Supporting LEDCOM clients such as furniture/equipment set up for conferences & meetings.
- Other caretaking duties as required.
- This is a varied role for which appropriate health & safety training, along with other training will be provided.

Desirable Skills
- Practical skills: Knowledge and experience of gardening/landscaping techniques & use of gardening products/equipment
- Knowledge and experience of minor repairs and construction related projects.
- Driving License: The ability to travel between sites is preferred, so a valid driver's license is advantageous.
Further Information
The employer is LEDCOM. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. Salary: £11.44 per hour
