The employer is SHANAGHAN VETERINARY SERVICES AND SHANAGHAN HILL FARM. To assist in the day-to-day care of animals including horses, foals, sheep and working dogs. This will include feeding, bedding, routine medical care. They may also assist with lambing and foaling.

Responsibilities

• To assist with ensuring work area and equipment are kept clean, safe and in reliable working order.
• To learn to operate light agricultural vehicles safely and efficiently.
• To assist in the day-to-day care of animals including horses, foals, sheep and working dogs. This will include feeding, bedding, routine medical care. They may also assist with lambing and foaling.
• To assist the veterinary surgeon with care and treatment of equines.
• To assist with administrative duties.
• To attend training events.
• To observe safe working practices and wear protective gear.
• Any other duties as may be required.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Good communication skills.
• Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, bending, stooping, climbing and walking.
• Interest in animal care, horse care, and/or farming.
• Willing to learn and work toward the mission statement of Shanaghan Veterinary Services.
• Confidentiality.
• Full UK driving license.

Desirable Skills

• Previous experience of working with animals in particular horses.

The employer is SHANAGHAN VETERINARY SERVICES AND SHANAGHAN HILL FARM. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position.
