Job description
The KTP associate will manage and coordinate a 2-year project that will involve designing and developing a digital product that will be able to analyse various datasets and allow users to explore these datasets using interactive data visualisations/dashboards and other features based on the user’s needs. The digital product may also use machine learning and data science methods to provide useful and actionable insights into services. The KTP associate will work with colleagues within Inspire as well as academics at Ulster and other stakeholders to design this system. The KTP associate will also engage with the scientific literature (e.g. in areas such as mental health and wellbeing, digital mental health and data science) and have opportunities to co-design a new product providing business intelligence. They should also have great opportunities to present findings and outputs to a range of stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Manage a strategic 2-year project and manage related stakeholders including staff at Inspire and academics
- Carry out a strategic review of company processes, the marketplace and current digital technologies that are being used in related products
- Develop an understanding of the datasets and flow of data with associated business processes and services in Inspire
- Design and develop a new digital product to facilitate the analysis and visualisation of the relevant datasets
- Explore, develop and integrate machine learning algorithms and/or features into the new digital product to help provide users with useful and actionable insights into the datasets
- Help manage and work within data governance processes and procedures
- Manage the software development lifecycle, user requirements, prototyping and undertake any relevant testing, user experience and usability testing
- Disseminate work, demonstrate prototypes, present findings and engage with related scientific research activities and methods
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- At least an upper second class undergraduate honours degree in computer science, statistics or a closely related subject.
- Experience in software programming / development
- Experience in the design/development and use of databases/data models
- Experience with using data science techniques, undertaking data visualisation as well as experience with applying machine learning/artificial intelligence algorithms/techniques
Desirable Skills
- Experience with user experience design/research (for example, this might include experience with one or more of the following: wireframing/prototyping, gathering user feedback, A/B testing, usability testing, storyboarding etc.)
- Experience with using research methods and/or undertaking research activities (for example, research activities could include recruiting participants, data collection, interviewing, research ethics, requirements gathering/needs analysis etc.)
- MSc in data science or artificial intelligence or indeed a PhD in computer science or a cognate area
