Graduate Trainee Electrical Engineer
Job description
The successful candidate will assist project electrical engineers and senior technicians across a wide range of activities in support of CPD main Business Areas. This will entail involvement in the preliminary and basic services as described in the RIBA Plan of Work stages 1 to 6, i.e., inception to completion.
Responsibilities
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team on construction projects to provide an electrical engineering service.
- Provide electrical engineering and construction procurement advice to Client Departments and other public bodies.
- Brief development, feasibility studies, outline design, building surveys and drawings as described in RIBA Plan of Work.
- Assist in the assessment of electrical engineering submissions from external design teams.
- Implement Northern Ireland public procurement policy on construction projects; and
- Other activities commensurate with the electrical engineering grade.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Applicants must have, or expect to have by 31st July 2025:
- At least a second-class honours degree in electrical /electronic engineering which is accredited by the (IET) or the (CIBSE) as partially or fully satisfying the educational requirements for CEng registration. Please refer to page 22 of the CIB
Desirable Skills
- In addition, applicants should be aware that after an eligibility sift, should it be necessary to shortlist candidates to go forward to interview, the following shortlisting criteria will be used:
- Applicants who have met the eligibility criteria and have, or expect to have by 31st July 2025, a Masters degree as listed on the engineering council data base, having been accredited by (IET) or (CIBSE)fully satisfy the requirements for CEng.
