Graduate Trainee Quantity Surveyor


Job description

Graduates Trainees may spend periods in both the office and on site working on interesting and challenging projects under the supervision of a Senior Professional & Technical Officer (SPTO). The successful candidate will report to a SPTO in the provision of various aspects of quantity surveying services to Government Departments, Agencies and the wider public sector. Responsibilities

  • Providing a wide range of cost and procurement advice to Northern Ireland Departments, their Agencies, Non-Departmental Public Bodies and Councils
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a wide range of pre and post contract quantity surveying services such as preparing feasibility costs, estimating, compiling tender and contract documentation, tender assessment
  • Delivery of a full range of post contract cost management duties.
  • Advising on the delivery of projects to ensure compliance with policy, statutory and legal requirements including the Public Contracts Regulations (2015)
  • Assisting in the procurement and management of external consultants and contractors on construction projects
  • Monitoring the implementation of Northern Ireland public procurement policy
  • Other activities commensurate with the quantity surveying grade

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Applicants must have, or expect to have by 31st July 2025: At least a second-class honours degree in quantity surveying which is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)

Desirable Skills

  • Applicants who have met the eligibility criteria and have, or expect to have by 31st July 2025, a Masters degree as accredited by the RICS
