Marketing Assistant
Job description
Responsible for assisting with supporting Councils marketing function through the provision and delivery of a creative and innovative marketing service.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Marketing Lead and Marketing Officers to plan, develop, implement and manage short and medium term advertising and marketing campaigns within agreed timescales targeting specific demographics.
- Work closely with marketing officers to assist with development of marketing plans and provide hands-on support for their marketing requirements.
- Assist with marketing requirements for the Entrepreneurship Support Service ESS programme.
- Work closely with specialist functions within the marketing team and agencies in particular design, digital services and the communications.
- Attend meetings to represent marketing when required, capturing actions and feeding back to the team.
- Assist with producing accurate cost estimates for marketing plans and activity ensuring best value for money within the overall marketing budget and monitoring spend in accordance with the Council’s financial regulations and departmental monitoring.
- Assist with compilation, co-ordination and production of all relevant print materials including briefing of both in house and external designers and printers.
- Assist with updating social media platforms, web-pages and other digital channels.
- Assist in liaising with external suppliers to provide a high quality of service delivery to ensure all items are scheduled and delivered on time and within budget.
- Support and deliver actions on behalf of the Council’s marketing team and Culture Department as and when required including the provision of an out of hours service where required.
- Prepare and present regular reports to Marketing Lead and Marketing Officers, as and when required.
- Participate in and ensure compliance with all Council policies and procedures and operate within the highest standards of personal behaviour.
- Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety requirements and legislation in accordance with Council’s policies and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- A third level qualification in a relevant discipline i.e. Marketing, Communication, Business Studies or equivalent level of qualification.
- A minimum of one year’s experience in the following areas: Assisting in the development and implementation of marketing plans / Assisting in the co-ordination of marketing activities: online and offline / Liaising with a range of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of local, regional and national media channels.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
