Care Assistant - Lawnfield
Job description
To be responsible, through management and staff leadership, for promoting and ensuring the highest standards of care, in compliance with statutory requirements to meet the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of the residents with the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church In Ireland
Responsibilities
- Care of residents
- Assist with the daily care of the residents, helping residents with all aspects of personal care where necessary, to ensure their needs are met, respecting their privacy and dignity.
- Encourage residents to be as active and as independent as possible.
- Accompany residents to hospital, clinic etc., or on short walks as directed.
- Ensure vigilance is exercised at all times in relation to the health, safety and well-being of residents.
- To administer resident’s medication after appropriate training
- To complete appropriate written records as required.
- To promote and take part in social and recreational activities within the home, which are designed to enhance quality of life.
- To ensure compliance with the Presbyterian Council for Social Witness policies and procedures.
- To attend mandatory training.
- To adhere to the Christian ethos of the home (e.g. in terms of language and conduct).
- ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- To undertake any other relevant duties, which may be required. Duties may include week-end working and being on call, on a rota basis, at night and at week-ends.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Evidence an understanding of and respect for the needs of older people or those with learning and physical disabilities
- Awareness of Health and Safety practices within a working environment
- Willing to undertake relevant training eg induction training, or NVQ/QCF level 2
- Proficiency in understanding, communicating and writing in English to level required by duties of the post
- Must be willing to behave in a manner which respects the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland
- Must be available for flexible working, including on call at night and week-ends as required
- Willingness to maintain registration with the appropriate professional regulatory body
- Must be willing to adhere to NISCC Codes of Practice or N.M.C.
- Satisfactory Access NI check
- Registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council within 6 months of appointment is a requirement of this position
