IT Datacentre Specialist


Job description

The post holder will assist the IT Datacentre Operations Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of proactive IT systems supporting a highly complex organisation with a user base of over 24,000 users and 12,000 devices. The post holder will be responsible for the administration and maintenance of the Trust’s users systems. The post holder will advise on and manage the delivery of new systems and integration into existing infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Support and assist the IT Datacentre Manager to cover all aspects of Datacentre management
  • Assist in the delivery of a robust IT Cybersecurity, within the post holders remit, to ensure that operational staff is suitably trained and that there is full compliance with HPSS and Trust procedures including the Data Protection Act.
  • Assist in the preparation of business cases and option appraisals in relation to Information Communication and Technology projects.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A recognised third level qualification or equivalent in an IT discipline (where IT is more than 50% of the course content) and at least two years relevant experience working as a Senior IT Engineer in an IT Operations Role in an IT Department OR
  • A recognised third level qualification or equivalent and at least three years relevant experience working as a Band 5 (or equivalent) in an IT Operations role in an IT Department OR
  • At least four years relevant experience working as a Band 5 (or equivalent) in an IT Operations Role in an IT Department

Desirable Skills

  • ITIL Foundation Prince2 Foundation VMware recognised qualification
