Job description

The post-holder will assist in the strategic planning, development, management and operation of the Trust’s Information & Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure, making sure that these services support the day-to-day operation and the continuing development of the organisation. The post-holder will provide strong professional leadership and assist in the provision of expert advice and the delivery of complex technical solutions across a range of areas including data communications networks, security and desktop / server management and Telecommunications. As a member of the ICT Senior Management Team he/she will share corporate responsibility for achievement of Team objectives, be committed to multi-disciplinary working in driving forward a culture of change, innovation, development and modernisation. He/she will ensure that the focus of ICT provision and delivery is patient and client centred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Head of ICT Services to develop, redevelop and reconfigure of services through the use of technology & telecommunications in partnership with key stakeholders ensuring that the priorities and expectations of the Trust’s corporate plan.
  • Assist with the development of relevant Trust and/or regional Information and Communications Technology Strategies (Informatics / eHealth).
  • Assist to prepare the ICT infrastructure aspects of the Trust’s IM&T Strategy and annual work programme, taking account of regional and local initiatives, as well as emerging technologies.
  • Assist with the implementation of the technical aspects of the Technology & Telecommunications work plan, reporting on progress as required.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • University degree or a recognised equivalent professional qualification in an Information Communication and Technology (ICT) discipline AND worked for at least 3 years in Information & Communications Technology (ICT); OR
  • HND or recognised equivalent professional qualification in an Information Communication and Technology (ICT) discipline AND worked for at least 4 years in a management role (Band 6 or above) in Information & Communications Technology (ICT); OR
  • Demonstrate at least 5 years relevant working experience in a management role at Band 6 or above (or equivalent ) or above within an Information & Communications Technology (ICT).
  • Hold an ITIL foundation certificate or in the absence of same can demonstrate knowledge of the principles and be willing to secure certification within 1 year of appointment.
  • Hold a current valid PRINCE2/MSP Foundation Certificate or demonstrate proven project management experience in ICT projects and be willing to secure certification within 1 year of appointment.
