Ambulance Care Attendant
Job description
We are currently looking for enthusiastic and passionate Ambulance Care Attendants to transport our patients, who are frail or need specialist assistance. If you have experience of caring for people with proven customer care and communication skills with the public, then we would like to hear from you! You will be required to transport patients to and from locations e.g. Hospital departments, Clinics, events, home address, healthcare facilities in a professional, caring, comfortable, compassionate, empathic, reassuring and timely manner. You will be required to effectively communicate with patients, carers, relatives and healthcare colleagues including both verbal and written handovers. You will provide a quality service to the patient and ensuring their safety and well-being whilst dispensing your duty of care professionally. Whilst in the care of JACE Medical Ambulance and to provide effective and efficient first aid practice, high quality and professional care during all ambulance provision to support effective patient outcomes. You will need to be flexible, adaptable, and at times, discreet. A good sense of humour and local knowledge of the area you are applying to work in will also be an advantage. Responsibilities
- Assisting patients including moving & handling.
- Safe, comfortable and timely transportation of a wide variety of patients from and back to their home.
- Daily equipment & vehicle checks.
- Accurate record keeping & handovers of journeys.
- Safeguarding.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Must hold an Ambulance Care Attendant Qualification from one of the following bodies: IHCD, Edexcel BTEC Level 2, Pearson BTEC Level 2 FPOSi, Qualsafe Awards FREC3 or Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 RQF AND 1 year experience in similar role.
Desirable Skills
- Drivers of ambulances must hold a full and valid driving licence with the relevant vehicle classifications to drive the ambulance.
- Ability to work shift patterns, weekends, public or bank holidays.

If educational certificates are not available an original letter and photocopy of same detailing examination results from your school or college will be accepted as an alternative. This documentation can be a P45, Payslip, National Insurance Card or a Birth Certificate confirming birth in the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland. Failure to produce evidence will result in a non-appointment. To be eligible for a position in the Ambulance service you must Complete an Access NI Enhanced Disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position. A copy of the Access NI Code of Practice will be made available to all applicants upon request.
