Community Arts Project Manager
Job description
This is a critical role and key to enabling the Fighting Words NI team to deliver creative education programmes for children and young people across Northern Ireland. You will lead in the management and delivery of impactful high-quality projects in collaboration with partners and stakeholders. You will be responsible for ensuring that new programmes drive creativity, incorporate innovation and offer positive impacts amongst young people across Northern Ireland, connecting them with their peers throughout the island of Ireland. You will be the main contact with responsibility for the management, oversight, coordination and delivery of a large-scale peace-building youth consortium project.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the delivery of the project, from inception to reporting. This includes managing resources, budget, claims and people to achieve the desired outcome.
- Establish a Memorandum of Understanding with each Shared Learning Partnership and be responsible for regular monitoring and review.
- Promote, recruit and retain participants and groups in designated regions in NI.
- Line manage and support freelance facilitators and other supporting staff in the delivery of high-quality facilitation and creative learning experiences.
- Support SLP participants’ governing committees, staff and volunteers.
- Collaborate with consortium colleagues to organise shared contact days, e.g. social action projects and Hunger for Peace Games.
- Manage effective and timely communication with all stakeholders, including staff, team members, and management, to ensure everyone is informed and engaged. This includes but is not limited to preparing status reports and conducting meetings.
- Monitor, maintain and supervise the project’s reporting systems and databases, tracking and regularly updating project budgets and finances, data collection and fundraising activities.
- Monitor and maintain all relevant paperwork (contracts, policies, permission/consent/GDPR forms) with freelance artists, trainers, community/youth leaders and young people.
- Support the FWNI Director and other colleagues with expertise in the day-to-day management of financial and operational matters of the project.
- Work closely with other FWNI Programme Leads to contribute to the healthy functioning of the organisation, in the oversight and management of colleagues across the organisation
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Relevant third level qualification, OR 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above including English and Maths and minimum of two years’ experience in a project management role in the co-ordination, administration and delivery of projects.
- A high level of IT literacy, including Microsoft 365 or equivalent packages, database management, presentations, spreadsheets etc.
- Demonstrable experience in project administration, including maintaining accurate project budgets, claims, paperwork and finance records.
- Demonstrable skill in building relationships e.g., liaising with multiple stakeholders, citing examples such as schools, educationalists, artists, beneficiaries, funders, local authorities, regional bodies, and other organisations or agencies.
- Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills.
- A full, clean current UK driving licence, and own or have access to a car to meet with the travel requirements of the post (this criterion will be waived in the case of an applicant whose disability prohibits driving)
Desirable Skills
- Project Management qualification.
- Knowledge of and commitment to one or more of the following areas: arts programmes, activities and events; education; youth work; community work.
- Experience of facilitation, delivery and/or creation of training or learning materials.
- Evidence of experience in the use of CRM, project management software and/or other data collection, monitoring or reporting tools.
