Programme Manager - Bus Systems


Job description

You will manage all elements of the Bus Systems Programme for Translink in accordance with company governance policies and procedures. This includes Real Time Passenger Information projects and other operational projects. The approved Programme spend over the next 4 years is circa £26 Million.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the Bus Systems programme for Translink, including development and maintenance of project management procedures to ensure efficient delivery of the programme in line with company governance policies and procedures.
  • Act as Project Manager for complex projects as directed by the Head of Fleet Systems.
  • Lead the management of the Bus Systems programme in line with agreed project parameters in terms of time, cost and quality, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits.
  • Ensure sufficient allocation of resource and technical skills within the Bus Systems Programme.
  • Ensure appropriate tracking and monitoring systems for the programme progress monitoring and provide regular update reports within the Programme Board and P3O Office, as well as SRO, Executive Group and Government Departments where required.
  • Develop, engage and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders within the Translink group and externally to ensure the successful delivery of the programme.
  • Ensure all project management processes are subject to regular audit and meet the laid down performance criteria of the Translink Group, Internal Peer Reviews and external Gateway Reviews.
  • Lead and effectively manage the Bus Systems Project Team and direct the people management/engagement of all staff building capability, competence and succession plans through staff development.
  • Ensure appropriate consideration is given to the organisations equality duties as well as specific commitments associated with your job role.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Qualified to Degree level in a Technical or Business subject or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience of Project Management, planning and control processes within a Systems Environment; or knowledge of bus operations and systems.
  • Experience of managing interfaces within an operational environment.
  • Experience of Contract/Financial management including management of large project budgets.
  • Experience of managing people within an operational environment.
  • Experience of managing people within a Bus Operational environment, including allocation of projects and managing the workload within the projects office.
  • Experience of managing complex projects in a large organisation across multiple sites.

Desirable Skills

  • Project Management Qualification.
  • Experience of working & communicating in a unionised environment.
