Student Services Support Officer
Job description
Provide a range of support and services within the Learning Link Centre with particular focus on developing students independent study skills and promoting the integration of Study Skills into all learning programmes. The postholder will be integrated into the wider student services team to support student finance and assist with activities and events. Responsibilities
- Assist students with additional needs to overcome the difficulties associated with their disability and/or learning difficulty through the development of learning strategies
- Develop an agreed support plan, which is appropriate to the students needs and demonstrates the development of techniques and strategies that will help to promote independent learning and progression
- Run small group sessions and larger presentations in some or all areas of study skills
- Provide training to students on the use of assistive technologies and software
- Assist with the co-ordination and management of support worker provision in the classroom
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Have a Level 4 qualification in the area of special needs, education, or information technology (IT due to the training in usage of assistive technology)
- Have at least 2 years employment experience providing student support in a learning environment
