Finance Business Partner


Job description

To act as the Finance Business Partner for Rail Operations and Engineering, adding commercial value and insight, providing financial input into operational strategy, and assisting with special projects and statutory and management reporting as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Finance Business Partner support to the General Manager Rail Operations and General Manager Engineering, ensuring timely provision of pertinent financial and commercial information to the Rail Operations and Engineering division.
  • The Finance Business Partner will also ensure the timely and proficient discharge of all financial management responsibilities for both the Rail Operations and Engineering divisions
  • Ensure sound financial practice is embedded in the division and perform a challenge/scrutiny function in relation to management of budgetary constraints.
  • Liaise with GM Rail Operations to design and develop route profitability reports.
  • Provide financial and commercial input (working with Commercial Operations division as appropriate) with focus/direction on service delivery and development of local and crossborder rail services, as part of their wider strategic support function
  • Ensure there is a robust regime of commercial analysis of fares and ticketing data to assess viability of promotional offers, anticipated yield from fares revision and any other analytical work and KPIs as required

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Degree qualified accountant with membership of CCAB or equivalent, with minimum of 3 years’ post qualification industry/commercial experience.
  • Previous experience of finance business partnering in a commercial/industry role.
  • Experience of implementing cost reduction plans, and/or improving profitability.
  • Experience of utilising an integrated financial software package.

Desirable Skills

  • Project management qualification.
  • Experience of preparing statutory accounts under IFRS.
  • Previous experience of project management; planning and delivering a programme; achieving objectives within budgetary and time constraints.
  • Knowledge of Translink structure and finances.
