Job description

The Community Support Officer's (CSO) role is to support the project coordinator with the aim of uniting people and communities to strengthen community relations to grow stronger, work better together and create spaces for all to share. The CSO will work on programmes and activities to provide opportunities that will allow people from diverse backgrounds to connect, build capacity and access to services, benefiting not only the direct participants but also their wider circle of friends, families, and communities.

Responsibilities

  • The Community Support Officer role is to support the project coordinator to plan, develop, implement and evaluate community relation/bonding projects, physical, environmental improvement projects & community awareness programmes.
  • Support the LCA Ltd Committee.
  • Identify and apply for funding for the diverse range of programmes and activities.
  • Ensure analysis of need is carries out to enable maximum opportunity and engagement.
  • To enlist a multiple method marketing and media approach for the purpose of recruiting participants, communication and project exposure and platforming.
  • To ensure that the organisation/s and funding body/ies are always referenced in any media or communications.
  • Maintain accurate records of expenditure for projects, in keeping with LCA Ltd procedures.
  • Prepare monthly reports on the progress of projects for LCA Ltd and relevant funders.
  • To evaluate the projects on an ongoing basis and to provide regular evaluation reports as requested.
  • Any other duties deemed as reasonable in accordance with the aims and objectives of Leafair Community Association Ltd.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Higher/3rd Level Qualification/s and a minimum of 2 years’ experience or at least 4 years’ experience coordinating community programmes or equivalent project.
  • Experience and understanding of the voluntary and community sector.
  • Experience in delivering community project(s) including working with staff and volunteers, budgets; financial controls; monitoring and evaluating; reporting; and programme development
  • Experience and a working knowledge of using I.T and software packages such as Word and Excel and variety of databases in which to gather required information
  • Experience in project finances including the preparation/ monitoring of budgets and creating/ maintaining income and expenditure records
  • Ability to communicate financial information
  • Willing to work within the mission, vision and values of Leafair Community Association Ltd
  • Ability to work flexible hours at times demanded by the position
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of cross community/cross border community development
  • Experience in supporting vulnerable people in a community setting.
  • Experience and knowledge of Safeguarding
  • Experience and knowledge of policy and governance
  • Experience and understanding in the use of Social Media.
  • Experience and understanding of working with organisational support platforms and applications.
