House to Home Painting/Decorating Trainee
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: HABITAT FOR HUMANITY IRELAND At Habitat for Humanity, we believe that everyone, everywhere should have a safe place to call home. The House to Home programme supports vulnerable people who have been homeless or who are at risk of repeat homelessness, to sustain tenancies for the long-term through a 2 day intervention. The House to Home Trainee will work alongside the House to Home Supervisor to deliver the programme through painting and light-touch repairs. Full training and mentoring will be provided. This is an opportunity for you to work as part of a team, to learn new skills that will build your CV, and get experience that you can use in many roles going forward. There may also be an opportunity to engage in Habitat for Humanity's broader work; this could include supporting with schools/youth engagement, ReStore Operations or helping raise the awareness of the organisation at events.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a work area for painting and decorating, including using dust sheets.
- Preparing surfaces for painting including removing wallpaper.
- Painting using both brushes and rollers.
- Maintaining a clean and tidy work area at all times.
- Cleaning and storing tools and equipment after work.
- Attend assessments and deliver tool box basics training along with the House to Home Supervisor.
- Support with other tasks on House to Home and in the Habitat ReStore as required.
- Attend appropriate training as required.
