We are now seeking an IT Support Assistant to join our team. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of their IT career who wants to develop technical and project support skills in a friendly, supportive environment. You’ll work alongside our IT Projects Officer, helping to deliver a range of technology improvements and providing day-to-day IT support to staff across the organisation. The IT Support Assistant will support the effective delivery of IT & Business systems, projects, and daily operations within Disability Action. Working under the guidance of the IT Projects Officer, the post holder will assist with troubleshooting technical issues, maintaining IT records, and helping to implement new digital initiatives that improve how we work. This opportunity is specifically for anyone with a disability, long-term health condition or difference, such as physical, sensory, mental health condition, or who is neurodiverse or has autism, ADHD, dyslexia or any other type of condition or communication, processing or learning difference. Responsibilities

  • Provide IT support to staff for all IT queries including: hardware, software, and access issues.
  • Assist with setting up and maintaining IT equipment, including laptops, printers, phones, and network devices.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding staff including accurate recording (e.g. setting up new accounts, preparing laptops).
  • Log and track IT support requests through the internal/external ticketing system, ensuring timely follow-up and accurate documentation.
  • Assist with maintaining an up-to-date inventory of IT assets, licences, and equipment.
  • Support the IT Projects Officer with project work such as testing new systems, updating records, and supporting rollout of new tools (e.g. SharePoint, HARK, Driver Manifest App).
  • Develop and maintain clear, user-friendly 'How To' guides and training materials for employees.
  • Input of data entry, reporting and administrative tasks linked to IT contracts, audits, and compliance.
  • Actively pursue continuous professional development through internal and external training focused on IT systems, project processes and data protection.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Qualifications in English and Maths and/or at least one year’s relevant work experience gained through employment, volunteering, or education in a similar or relatable role.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems, tools, and technologies.
  • Organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to divide time between multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Good communicator and collaborative team player, able to build positive working relationships and contribute to a supportive team environment.
  • Able to follow instructions, manage time efficiently, and deliver work accurately and on schedule.
  • Professional approach to handling sensitive information, with adherence to data protection regulations such as GDPR.
