IT Support and Administrative Assistant
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: IT HUB ARMAGH NI LTD The IT Support & Administrative Assistant will work alongside our technical team to gain hands-on experience in a modern IT environment. This is an entry-level role designed to help the participant build confidence, practical skills, and an understanding of day-to-day operations in the IT sector.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with the setup and configuration of new computers, laptops, and other devices. Installing basic software under supervision.
- Organise and prepare IT equipment, cables, and accessories for deployment (asset labelling, updating records, organising peripherals).
- Supporting the team with routine IT tasks such as checking equipment, organising stock, and basic troubleshooting.
- Performing general administrative duties including filing, data entry, documentation updates, and assisting with customer paperwork, helping to maintain an organised and tidy workspace for IT equipment and supplies.
- Shadowing senior colleagues to gain exposure to real-world IT support processes. Completing any training provided to develop IT and workplace skills.
- Follow company procedures and checklists to complete tasks safely and accurately.
- Work closely with the technical team, asking for guidance when needed and contributing to team activities.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Ability to use a computer confidently for everyday tasks.
- Motivated to develop technical knowledge, follow guidance, and take part in training.
- Able to speak clearly with colleagues, ask questions when unsure, and understand instructions.
- Able to follow checklists, record information accurately, and complete tasks to a high standard.
- Capable of managing simple tasks, keeping work areas tidy, and working methodically.
Desirable Skills
- A genuine enthusiasm for computers, IT equipment, or problem-solving in a technical environment.
- Familiarity with components like keyboards, monitors, cables, or the general process of setting up a device.
- Helps with completing admin tasks and maintaining basic documentation.
- Can understand simple written or spoken guidance for setting up equipment or installing software.
- Comfortable communicating politely with colleagues or clients when required.
- Able to think logically when completing tasks and identify when something doesn’t look right.
