Job description

The Deli / Barista Staff member will prepare high-quality coffee, sandwiches, salads, pastries, and light deli offerings while delivering excellent customer service. This is a hands-on role suitable for someone energetic, reliable, and passionate about hospitality.

Responsibilities

• Barista Duties: Prepare and serve espresso-based coffees, teas, and specialty drinks. Operate and maintain professional coffee equipment.
• Deli & Food Prep: Prepare sandwiches, paninis, wraps, salads, and baked goods. Follow food hygiene standards (HACCP) at all times.
• Customer Service: Greet customers and take orders efficiently. Maintain a professional attitude. Handle cash, card payments, and operate the till system.
• General Shop Duties: Maintain cleanliness across all areas (tables, counters, equipment, floors). Assist with opening/closing procedures. Restock supplies and monitor inventory. Follow health & safety, allergen, and food handling regulations.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Experience as a barista, deli assistant, or in a fast-paced café/food environment.
• Ability to multitask during busy periods.
• Good communication and teamwork.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Basic food hygiene knowledge.

Desirable Skills

• HACCP training.
• Experience in a similar independent coffee shop.
• Passion for speciality coffee and food presentation.
