THE EMPLOYER IS: BASKETBALL NORTHERN IRELAND The Marketing and Events Assistant will play a key supporting role in the planning, promotion, and delivery of Basketball NI events and community programmes. This role offers hands-on experience across marketing, digital content creation, event coordination, and sports development within a dynamic sporting organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the promotion of Basketball NI events and programmes. This will include events associated with our leagues, International teams (Team NI), community events and community programmes.
  • Helping to design digital and print marketing materials (e.g., posters, graphics).
  • Updating the organisation’s website with news, events, and programme information.
  • Assisting with the creation and scheduling of social media content across all platforms.
  • Assisting with the organisation and delivery of events, including set-up, registration, and coordination on the day.
  • Gathering photos, videos, and participant feedback to support marketing and reporting.
  • Maintaining accurate records of event attendance and engagement.
  • Supporting administrative tasks such as responding to emails, updating databases, and preparing promotional materials.
  • Working closely with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth event delivery.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok).
  • Confidence using digital tools for creating or sharing content.
  • Basic IT skills, including email, documents, and data entry.
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, and the public.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to be hands-on with event set-up and delivery.
  • Applicant must be available to work weekends when required.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience using design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Basic photography or videography skills.
  • Experience updating websites (e.g., WordPress).
  • Understanding of branding and how to promote events or programmes.
  • Previous experience supporting events, sports programmes, or community initiatives.
  • Ability to gather and summarise feedback or engagement data.
  • Experience maintaining records or simple reports.

The Employer is: BASKETBALL NORTHERN IRELAND JobStart Opportunity - Working Hours Information - Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. - Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. - Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
