Home-Start Causeway is a long-established organisation which supports families across the Causeway Coast and Glens area. We are seeking to recruit a Scheme Manager to take responsibility for the day to day running of Home-Start Causeway. The successful candidate will report to and support the Board of Trustees to ensure the effective strategic management, development and future funding of the scheme. Purposes of the job: To hold responsibility for maintaining an overview of the scheme. To secure funding for the scheme. To ensure the effective day to day management of the scheme in accordance with the Home-Start Memorandum & Articles of Association; the Home-Start Standards & Methods of Practice, Home-Start Agreement and Quality Assurance Standards. To ensure equality of opportunity, fairness and diversity in all aspects of the scheme’s work. To ensure good safeguarding practice in all aspects of the scheme’s work. To take responsibility for providing leadership and management to the staff team .

Responsibilities

  • Taking responsibility for the day to day management of the scheme.
  • Ensuring effective administration, monitoring and financial systems are in place.
  • Managing the operational work and deploying the schemes staffing and financial resources in the most effective way
  • To ensure Staff and Volunteer record keeping is maintained to required standards.
  • Leading the staff team and ensuring all employees receive effective supervision, direction and opportunities for development.
  • Be responsible for maintenance and updating of website and all social media.
  • Ensuring all Home-Start policies and procedures are implemented and reviewed.
  • Supporting the Board of Directors in the recruitment, selection, induction, management and deployment of organisers/co-ordinators and other paid employees.
  • Promoting the work of the scheme externally.
  • Reporting to and supporting the Board of Trustees to ensure the effective strategic management, development and future funding of the scheme.
  • To identify and secure sufficient funding that will maintain financial stability of Home-Start Causeway on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide relevant and accurate management information reports to the Board of Directors, Funders and others as required.
  • Building positive relationships with Funders and potential Funders and maintaining those relationships.
  • Supporting the Directors to ensure that bids or tenders submitted are adequately costed and risk assessed; and that contracts or SLAs are delivered and targets met.
  • Contributing to and supporting the development of the Home-Start network locally, regionally and nationally.
  • Networking appropriately with other Home-Starts in Northern Ireland and also within the community.
  • Contributing to local policy and community development as appropriate.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Good standard of education or equivalent experience
  • IT skills to include Microsoft Office packages and Social Media
  • Relevant previous or current employment (in a leadership or management role)
  • Experience of strategic management, planning and prioritising
  • Experience of preparing funding applications
  • Ability to negotiate and secure funding
  • Experience of developing and managing budgets and financial systems
  • Ability to process and collate information
  • Ability to prepare reports and statistical information
  • Experience of leading a team, including recruitment (staff or volunteers)
  • Supervisory and staff development skills
  • Promotional skills
  • Presentation skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • A positive and creative approach to tackling tasks
  • Commitment to good safeguarding practice

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of building positive relationships with funders
  • Experience of work in the voluntary sector or as a volunteer

  • Knowledge of the roles of agencies providing services for children and families
  • Knowledge of safeguarding
  • Knowledge of current legislation and policies relating to children and volunteers.
  • Car driver
