Job description

The Employer is: THE RESOURCE CENTRE DERRY. To answer the telephone, screen and direct calls as appropriate. To help with triage as and when required, to support with demand and capacity. To take and relay messages efficiently. To greet visitors, put them at ease and direct them as appropriate. To deal with queries from the public and customers and provide information to callers. To ensure knowledge of staff movements in and out of organisation, especially managers and drivers To contact drivers where necessary to relay information or ascertain whereabouts. To monitor visitor access and maintain security awareness. To schedule appointments for the Advice Service and maintain up-to-date diaries in conjunction with Advisers.

Responsibilities

  • To adhere to existing work practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.
  • Work with information technology and associated systems in accordance with Centre policies.
  • Comply with relevant health and safety legislation, policies and procedures in the performance of the duties of the post.
  • To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post in compliance with the Centres policies.
  • To maintain confidentially and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.
  • To understand and comply with the centres environmental policies.
  • To undertake additional training.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Maths and English Grades A-C.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work with other professionals.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise work.
  • Ability to adapt to working in different groups and to identify and meet the needs of individual service users.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours positively and constructively.
  • Ability to maintain records as appropriate.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and locations.

Desirable Skills

  • Working knowledge and experience of reception duties.
  • Experience of IT network administration.
  • Experience of Evide database.
  • Previous non-profit experience and current knowledge regarding service users issues both assets.
